Plus the order in which you improve the individual aircraft in the game adds a layer of unexpected depth since you want to make sure both you and your plane can handle the upgrades when you make them.
Climbing ability and acceleration are also included in the upgrade system, so it will be up to your balance out all of the things that are important to you and your playstyle. This is how it becomes necessary to improve your airframe and engine since they boost your maneuverability and speed respectively. The effects, both positive and negative, of the armor upgrade will become more noticeable as you get to the second and third levels of the upgrade. Adding extra layers of armor to your plane will of course make it more resistant to damage, but your speed and maneuverability will suffer slightly. The upgrades to the aircraft itself however are a little more complicate than that. Carrying more bombs, bullets and rockets means you won't have to land in the middle of a mission or otherwise conserve ammo during a battle. You can do things like improve armor, upgrade the engine, bolster the airframe and enhance the craft's carrying capacity for bullet, bomb and rocket ammunition. The upgrade system allows you to improve different parts of your aircraft over several levels. To balance the extreme realism of the airplanes, the game is going to allow players limited freedom to select the aircraft they want for a particular mission -once they've been unlocked- upgrade different parts of the plane and select specific secondary weapons. They're all brought to life with realistic engine sounds, handling and weapon payloads. There are more than twenty different aircraft featured in Secret Weapons including Japanese Zekes, German Messerschmidts and British Spitfires.
